At times we may find ourselves being tempted to compromise our commitment to God and His Word in order to look good in the sight of men. Commit to God We’re looking at love and truth through the eyes of wisdom, not righteousness or morality.
3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: 4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.”
Abide by Committing to God
God is telling us, “This is how my world works. If you hang on to loving faithfulness you will find favor and good success in the sight of both God and man. Good relationships in the community and good standing at work.
God looks at us and see’s Jesus’ loving faithfulness. In Christ we are new creations, now able to live as Christ lived. To fellow Christians; Commit to God, sympathize with in troubles, be tenderhearted and forgive offences; and in a spirit of meekness, for God will have mercy and not sacrifice.
The mercy and truth of God is by forgiving sin. For the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting, upon them that fear him.
Do not forget them, keep them in memory, and always retain a hearty affection for them; it is the Spirit’s work to write them in the heart. Copy them over in life and to show in conduct and behavior.
Since covenants are reciprocal, His people are expected to return faithfulness and steadfast love to Him. Commit to God because we know Him, our allegiance is with Him. We desire to please Him and honor Him above others. Because we desire to please Him, we will obey, walking in His ways.
We are reminded of one of God’s basic principles: if we obediently covenant with Him, we are choosing the path that leads to favor and good success.
