Gift of the Holy Ghost is the great blessing; the plentiful pouring out of which God kept for the latter days. Where God gives his Spirit as holy blessing. Therefore Floods, rivers, streams and waters, are often used in the Scriptures.
In Isaiah, to denote plenteous divine blessings, particularly the abundant influences of the Holy Spirit. The sense is that God would bestow blessings upon them as signal. The marvelous floods of waters were made to descend on the dry, parched and desolated earth.
“For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring.”
This is a glorious promise to a humble, returning Israel. God will not simply give them His Spirit.
Also hope comes from meditating on the promises of God’s Word. It is no contradiction that the way he fills us with hope is by filling us with his own word of promise. Because the way to have the power of the Spirit is to believe the promises of his Word. Hence, the word of promises fills us with hope.
The Spirit of God does not produce hope apart from the Word of God.
For those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, they will be filled. Those who call on the name of the Lord Jesus, who is life, will be baptized with the gift of the Holy Ghost.
When we seek Jesus, God pours out of Himself and fills us with abundant life that comes with His Son Jesus But thru Him, our spirit flourishes and we grow in the grace and in the knowledge. We will be fruits of the spirit and will have joy, peace, kindness, meekness, and patience. God will provide in times, when we need it the most.
