You shall receive power

You will only be the person that God created you to be when you receive the power that He has created for you to have. I can be such an outrageously emotional person that all I can ever do on my own is think about me and the way that I feel. You were not created for expressing your uncontrollable emotions; you were created for fruit, for good works, for the Kingdom of God and for power!

There are two distinct phrases in the scripture that we are reading today that are life altering and will set you into your emotional destiny. “You shall receive power,” is perhaps the most exciting phrase in the entire New Testament. You shall receive power! You don’t have to slug through life with your own strength! You don’t have to be content with emotional sewage and generational baggage! You will never take authority over your emotional hysteria until you receive the power of the Holy Spirit.

“And you shall be my witnesses,” is the second stirring promise in this well-known verse. Receiving the power of the Holy Spirit enables you to become who God has created you to be! You need God’s power so that you become a witness of His nature at this time in history. You shall receive power and you shall be!

You will never become all that God intended for you to become until you receive His power. Jesus knew that we would not be able to live an abundant life on planet earth without the power of the Holy Spirit and so He provided that exact power. I find myself praying this prayer sometimes several times a day because I am such a desperate woman:

Bible Verses:

Acts 1:1-8

1The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

2Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

3To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

4And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

6When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

7And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
